Do Drul Chorten Stupa

Regarded as the most significant ‘Stupa’ of Sikkim, the Do-Drul Chorten Stupa was built in 1945 by Trulshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. Do Drul Stupa was built in compliance with the desire revealed by Dud-Zom Rinpoche in 1944.

This stupa is characterised by complete mandala sets of Dorjee Phurba (Bajra Kilaya), a set of Kan-gyur relics (Holy Books), complete ‘Zung’(mantras) and other religious objects. With a gold-topped shikara adorning its spire, the stupa also has 108 Mani-Lhakor or Prayer Wheels.

Around the Stupa are two gigantic statues of Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava). The Stupa attracts pilgrims from all over the country.
