Bodhi Tree- The huge and sacred Bodhi tree located in Bodh Gaya under which Siddhartha Gautam founder of Buddhism later known Gautam Buddha achieved enlightenment some 2500 years ago

A historic tree, the Bodhi tree attracts the scholars and meditators. Original tree was destroyed by Ashoka before his conversion to the faith, later its offshoots were nurtured at Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, and a sapling was brought back and replanted here.
